Youth Caravan is ‘flying’ to Greece
2.364 kilometers, 9 days, 2 countries and 6 cities, 12 young people
Only one idea.
Youth Caravan having done more than 30.000 kilometers and have been to 50 cities all around Turkey during last two years, it’s now ready to open its wings and fly to Greece. With 12 young persons crew from 6 different countries (Greece, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Portugal), Youth caravan’s trip is starting from Ankara on 4th of May.
In that journey, Youth caravan’s aim is to raise the European awareness of the Youth and inform them about the Youth In Action Programs. Through a series of different activities, actions and events made for youth for the youth, our already intercultural crew will try to fight ideas like stereotypes and prejudices and it will underline the importance of the existence of an intercultural society within European Union.
On 5th of May Youth Caravan will be in Edirne and from there it will depart for Komotini on 6th of May. There, together with the Europe direct office of Komotini, it will make many activities for the young people of Komotini from 10 o’ clock in the morning till midnight.. Among the others a photo contest under the topic ‘the neighbors of Europe’ will take place and the winner will follow youth caravan to the next destinations.
On 7th of May Youth Caravan is landed to Athens. On the same day with the Young European Federalists and the European Movement will make an open discussion at European Parliament office in Athens by the topic: “EU: One-way or Dead End for Turkey?”, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. On 8th of May Youth Caravan will participate to the Fair Trade Hellas actions for the worldwide Fair Trade day. On 9th of May Youth Caravan will celebrate with the young people of Athens the Day of Europe at Sintagma, Monastiraki and Acropolis with many events. During the day the sky of Attica will be full of friendship kites.
On 10th of May Youth Caravan will visit Corinth. Together with the Youth center of Corinth has prepared many surprises and activities from 10 o’clock in the morning till 8 o’clock at the evening for the youth of the city. On 11th and 12th of May Ioannina will welcome Youth Caravan. At Ioannina Youth Caravan will visit high school students, will participate in intercultural events and it will make street actions around the castle.
On 13th of May Youth Caravan will start the return trip to Turkey hoping that it will have achieved its goals: 1.Inform as much young people as possible. 2. Beat stereotypes and prejudices of the past. 3.Underline the worth of the intercultural society. 4. Make new friends all around Greece.
